I strongly believe that if one is to be successful in society, setting goals and prioritizing them is very crucial. Having your goals set and prioritizing them does not only give you a clear focus on things you have to do, but it helps you to organize your plans so that you can set time limit and boundaries in achieving those goals. There are so many goals that I want to achieve my life. Since goals can only be achieved if they are realistic, timing and attainable, I have categorized my goals into long and short term goals.…

Growing up in Kokomo, Indiana there wasn’t much to the daily life in my hometown. I’d like to believe this is me telling the story of how through hard work and perseverance I could achieve my goal in high school. A goal that many told me was unachievable and stupid to pursue. What is this goal you wonder? My goal was to play Basketball at Kokomo High School.…
“Graduation, the hush-hush magic time of frills and gifts and congratulations and diplomas.” You weren’t lying when you said that Maya Angelou. May 19th, 2013 I had dreamt of that day for almost four years. I know I can’t be the only person who feel this way. I remember it as if it was just yesterday. So many different emotions going through my mind all at once. Happiness, Sadness, I felt relieved because it was almost over but at the same time I felt anxious and overly excited to just leave and go far away. 389 seniors were going to walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. After all, our class had the biggest percentage of graduates who were actually…
The story that I chose is one I heard from a friend about a dog and the rusty nail. Everyday a man would walk past his neighbor’s porch and the dog was always sitting in one spot howling in pain. Eventually one day when the man walked by again and the dog was in the same spot howling, he stopped and asked the owner, “Why is your dog always howling like he’s hurt?” The neighbor replied, “My dog has been sitting on a rusty nail for weeks now.” The curious man questioned, “Why doesn’t the dog just move off of the nail?” The owner replied to him, “I guess it just doesn’t hurt badly enough for him to move.”…
I was always that good kid that would always try not to do wrong, and be onm track with positive assertions. Then things happened and distracted me from the positive choices I used to make in life. Eventually, it kept building up to the pont where I lost control. Here's a little on how it all unfolded.…
Starting from a place I remembered as a teen, moving from a place that was warm to a place that had all four seasons; such as winter, spring, summer and fall. The First place that I grew up was surrounded by mountains. During the winter it was full of white snow, something that I was never used to seeing coming from California where all one would see was sandy beaches and the waves clasping one another. As I remember being so new to Park City, UT all I could see was the wonderful views of trees, mountains and people skiing or snowboarding. I have to say this was a fond memory because for the firs time I was actually able to experience the feeling of what winter was…
There can be major physical changes and effects to a female’s body after having a child. In 2011 when I had my son the hospital gave me an epidural for the pain; they did the shot too high up on my back. As far as anyone knew I was fine. I showed no signs of problems until after I got out of the hospital, when I started having back spasms due to the fact that the epidural was done incorrectly. The female body goes through many natural changes; it prepares itself to be capable of having a child naturally and being capable of breastfeeding babies. It can also cause other effects that are not necessarily normal changes to the female body, for me the two main changes that I had were being anemic and having a hyperthyroid. The doctors told me that I was anemic because I had lost too much blood during labor and that the hyperthyroid was a result of my body changing after having my son but that it was nothing to worry about.…
Learning something can be a scary experience. I Anyel Santiago, sale associate and a cashier in Old Navy, Dolphin Mall since April 19, 2013 I realize people can't manage their moods. The customers can be rude sometimes throwing the items on the cashier, some cut off other customers in line, some are so friendly that they make a half hour conversation with you, and some are just weird. But besides that, they'ress the people that live in the same world as I do. So, I can't change how they feel on a certain day. Heck, even sometimes I act in an unpleasant or pleasant way; when the situtation is opposite and am standing on the other side of the cashier. But since we're human beings and we encounter emotions; I know that everyone has their moments let it be good or bad.…

Aesop’s fable “The Tortoise and the Hare” tells of an egotistical rabbit who boast about being the swiftest runner among all the animals; challenging all the other animals to race against him. To the rabbit’s surprise a seemingly lowly turtle accepts the challenge to race. The rabbit seems to find the turtle’s statement amusing and decides to race the turtle; thinking the turtle was no real competition. By standers gawked trying to dissuade the turtle who is committed to racing the rabbit regardless of the seeming imbalance and unfavorable odds. As the race begins, the rabbit makes the most of on his physical prowess and seamlessly advances beyond the turtle. Overvaluing this advantage, when the finish line on sight, the rabbit decides that he can rest and still win the race. During this break, the slow-moving turtle continued to move toward the finish line inching his way past the snoozing rabbit. Awaking from his rest, the rabbit soon realizes that the turtle has passed him and is approaching the finish line. Now frantic, the rabbit exerts all his energy to try to catch and move pass the turtle; in an effort to win the race. Unfazed, the turtle continues to inch forward toward the finish line; ever constant in pace and determination. As the hurried rabbit nears, the underestimated turtle victoriously crosses the finish line first, much to everyone’s surprise.…
Storytelling is a universal, traditional art form, that has featured strongly in all cultures as an effective communication tool. Important messages can be so skilfully conveyed through storytelling, as the listener is so entranced by the magic images the storyteller paints before your eyes. And it is in this way that we as educators of young children can promote their learning.…
