my favorite childhood memory
My Favorite Childhood Memory I can fondly remember that special summer, at the age of ten, as one of my best childhood memories. When I think back to the anticipation and excitement of my first trip to Disney World, it feels as if it happened yesterday. My parents planned the trip for several months. As a child, it seemed as if the time would never come. When it was finally time to pack and leave, I felt excited. The night before our departure, I could not sleep at all. My most interesting childhood memory is of going to Walt Disney world with my family and having lots of fun. Vacations with the family were always joyous. Back on that bright summer day, my siblings and I climbed into the van with my parents and grandmother to begin the road trip. My mom sat in the front as my dad drove us all to the magical destination. Meanwhile, Grandma sat in the back with the kids and told us stories while she fed us snacks from her bag. Then she played many games and sang numerous songs with us to help past the time. On the way down to Florida, we stopped at every Chick-Fil-A restaurant for a meal, and for dessert we all ate ice cream cones. When dad was tired, he would occasionally stop at a rest stop so the family could all pile out and stretch our legs. Thinking back to the drive to Florida, it took a really long time to get there from Indiana. We planned on visiting and staying the night with family before our big park adventure. After a couple of hours, we arrived to Lakeland, Florida. My Aunt Shirley was nice enough to let us stay at her house until the next day. I was so happy to finally get out the car and run around. At my aunt’s house, the adults sat around talking and having a good time. A big dinner was prepared, consisting of fish, grits, crabs, and frog legs, for us to enjoy. The dinner was very delicious. However, when it was time for bed I fought my sleep until I finally drifted off dreaming of all the fun I would have the following day. We all piled in the van and headed for the highway the next morning. It took an hour to get to Orlando from Lakeland. As the van rolled along the hills, rocking and swaying back and forth, I was elated with thoughts of all the things we would do. I remember jumping around in the back seat with joy as we started to see signs for the park. When we arrived at the park, pure bliss and amazement showed on our faces. We took a ferry boat from the parking lot to the entrance of the park. Once inside the park, we headed for the rides. Some of my favorite rides were The Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain. My siblings and I were very thrilled and cheerful. Next, we visited Magic Kingdom to watch a parade of all the Disney characters. We were elated to find out we would get to take pictures with Goofy, Mickey Mouse, and Donald the Duck. My parents purchased chicken tender meals. Also, we ate snacks such as elephant ears and cotton candy. Grandma had given us money to buy extra junk that my parents would not buy. As the day began to end, we started to get tired. Lastly we watched the fireworks and took last minute photos before heading to the car. I was very sad it was time to go home the next morning. Visiting Disney World with my family was the best day of my childhood. My parents had taken us to visit family members and we also went to the park. In addition we were able to have a long, fun filled day in the park riding rides, watching parades, and filling our stomachs with lots of food. Being with family and having the bonding experience was wonderful. I will never forget. As a result, I would like to be able to make this a memorable event for my child to enjoy as well.

Everyone thinks that Disney World is fun but when I was 4 I thought it was scary. All of those princess’ and scary statues scared me. But the rides were even worse. Walking back to the cabin, I recalled all of the pleasurable moments that occurred that day. On the peaceful walk back, we got ice cream, which I was very pleased with. That was a perfect day of fun, good laughs, and of course, the tranquil scene of the beautiful beach. I was delighted when I got back to the cabin and couldn’t wait for what the next day had to…

Our family’s favorite tradition is summer vacation road trips. No doubt, our vacations turn out to be a success each and every year. Throughout my childhood and into my teenager years, we have gone from the beaches in Florida to the valleys in California. The most memorable one I could recall was our vacation to Disneyworld in Orlando, FL in 2004. I always have the notion as child that amusement park take your imagination to a new and entirely different level. On television commercials and billboard ads, it shows that Disneyworld is a destination where dreams come true and magic happen.…

Jacob, my oldest son, has memories based on the wonderful sights of Disney World. Obviously, the most impressive image that comes to him is the colossal image that comes into view almost as soon as you enter the park. He recalls the vibrant colors that seemed to guide you from one attraction to another. He enjoyed the illuminating fireworks that lite up the starry night. But to my surprise, his favorite memory was taking numerous photos with the characters that could be found everywhere you looked.…

It was a warm sunny day, like the ones you would expect in a summer camp; laughter was the melody that filled the air. Everybody was cheerful and enthusiastic, well everybody except one of our counselors. He was very worried, because his sister had been extremely sick, and nobody had been able to heal her. Everybody in my group had told him how sorry we felt for her, but really nobody connected with his situation, so we were not thinking about it. Instead we were immerging our souls into the contentment that was surrounding us. That day while we were acting, everybody was relaxed, focused and happy on what we were doing. We were living in our own little summer bubble. We decided to take a small break, in between the laughs I remember a friend saying “Isn’t it surprisingly amazing how beautiful life can be?”. That was the last sentence said before a cell phone rang and changed the course of the day.…

One very long month later, everyone's bags were packed and we was off to Tennessee! After five lengthy hours and passing through a time zone, I spotted the breathtaking view of Nashville. As we entered our hotels parking lot, I got out of the car and stared in awe of all the bright colorful lights and building against the dark night sky. It was stunning. My family and I walked into the hotel to be greeted by a welcoming smile from the lady behind the desk. We got our room keys and went to out room. It was decorated with pictures of guitars and a warm welcoming goldish yellow wallpaper. Although it was already nine o'clock, our night had just began.…

The best part of the day had arrived, dinner. We had a reservation at the pier in which we were going to eat dinner. We looked like a whole bunch of bees ready to attack. The food was there. Right in front of our noses. We could feel the presence of the warmth coming from the food. The smell was just making our mouths water and our tummies rumble. We looked at each other with such eagerness to have some of those explicit desserts in our mouths. There we were, with our food served and ready to attack. I knew that when I was done with this food there was no longer going to be any space for the dessert. Overall the food was amazing and the experience as well.…

In florida I got to get close with people I would never have met if my parent had not let me go on this once in a lifetime opportunity trip. In florida we spent every day every minute every second doing something. Whether it swimming, shopping, or all five teenagers sleeping together. The first couple of days we spent every waking moment of the sun swimming in a resort. We also went to a local Florida amusement park. The best part of the amusement park was not the rides or that I can in second in gokarting but that everyone who went was wearing White Chuck Taylors. I unfortunately missed Mason's third birthday but I made it up with going on a helicopter ride with Manny and his cousin Willie. That same day we went to Hooters and the Sugar Factory for our first time. The day was one to never forget. Our last three days we did not take our eyes off the TV because we were having Horror Movie Marathon. The couch was…

One weekend, seven of us decided to take a trip down from college to my parents' beach cottage in Panama City [Florida]. We were three guys and four girls celebrating our last weekend before beginning our sophomore year. We unloaded the cars and prepared for bed. I did not know then, but it was the last decent night's sleep I would have. We got up the next morning, loaded the cooler with beer and headed for the beach. We laughed, drank and exchanged stories from our freshman year. After finishing an enormous meal, we continued to drink and dance until 1:00 a.m. We had to get back to school early the next day, so we decided to fill the car with gas and get more cigarettes that night. My friend and I hopped in his truck, me in the driver's seat and he in the passenger seat, and headed to an all-night convenience store. We found one store open about two miles down the road. We pulled in, gassed up and headed back to the beach house. It was a straight shot, just a few minutes down a four-lane highway.…

When we think Disneyland, we think the happiest place on earth. For those who think this is an exaggeration, let me shed some light on why this place is magical for me. Disneyland to me means family traditions with a heart full of happiness and love. When you first enter Disneyland, you are overcome with a vast amount of emotions. I get a nervous feeling deep inside my gut. The excitement overwhelms me, knowing that in just a few small steps, I will see the castle at the end of Main Street. The smell of churros are in the air. The crowds are filled with children and parents. You can hear children’s laughter and excitement. And if you look closely, you can see Mickey and friends in the corner signing autographs and taking pictures. I close my…
