Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali was an inspiring athlete that was very powerful physically and mentally and had lots of courage. He used his gifted abilities to do more than fight; he used it to protect the rights of him and others. For example, Muhammad Ali didn’t want to kill innocent people instead he decided to be peaceful and face the consequences of him not fighting in Vietnam. He was sentenced to jail for a little bit and Muhammad Ali got his boxing licence for three years. He lost some of the prime boxing years of his life. Muhammad Ali created an impressive amateur record which led him to an AAU( Amateur Athletic Union) championship and multiple Gold Glove Championships, he used persistence to overcome racism and illuminated the world …show more content…
Muhammad Ali innovated the way a lot of people thought. Back then and now if you got called up for Military duty, in Ali’s case Vietnam you had to go. Muhammad Ali said “ I am not going to war to kill innocent, brown people.” (Chignell,2014). Ali’s boxing licence got suspended for 3 years and his title got stripped from around his waist. Since he didn’t fight in the war “He lost possibly the best 3 years of his boxing prime.”(Chignell,2014). When Muhammad Ali decided not to go and said what he said he gave everybody a view from his perspective. He was a very peaceful man that didn’t have to prove how good of a person he was to anyone. He would always say he was the greatest of all time and as time passed on I started to believe that. I looked beyond his athletic career, I looked at him as a person.
