LESSON PLAN YEAR 4 (Day 1) Theme: World of Knowledge
Topic: Occupations
Focus Listening and speaking
Learning Standards:

1.1.4 Able to talk about related topics with guidance.
1.3.1 Able to listen to and demonstrate understanding of oral texts by: (a) asking and answering questions.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to:

(i) name 10 the occupations (pictures).
(ii) listen to and repeat phrases on occupations (flash cards).
(iii) Ask and answer Wh-questions on occupation with partners.
Cross-curricular elements / Educational emphases: Constructivism, Entrepreneurship, Multiple Intelligences

Teaching Aids: Pictures, flash cards

Steps:
Set Induction
1. Teacher shows a picture of occupation slowly.
2. Pupils guess the occupation.
3. Introduce the topic.

Pre-Listening
1. Pupils name the occupations.
2. Pupils listen to and repeat phrases on occupations.
3. Match pictures to phrases.
While-Listening
1. Pupils listen to and repeat the dialogue.
2. Demonstrate on how to ask and answer question on occupations.
3. Check pupils’ understanding.
4. Teacher impels ambitions in pupils.
5. Pupils are call at random to tell their ambitions.

e.g. Teacher demonstrates the dialogue. (Role-play). Imagine there is another teacher facing each other. (holding a picture)

Post-Listening
1. Pupils work in pair.
2. Ask question and state what does a (teacher, chef, greengrocer, waiter)
3. Pupils with their partners come to the front and do the dialogue (Role-play).

Closure
1. Play memory games and pupils have to close their eyes.
