Ice Cream Commercial
On August 1, 2012, Little Baby’s Ice-cream, an ice-cream store located in Philadelphia, posted a highly unusual commercial called “This Is A Special Time”. The commercial was published on their official YouTube page and took the internet in a spiral of shock and curiosity. The commercial itself has a singular man created of Little Baby’s Ice-cream in front of a black background. Viewers can notice that he is raising his arm and then lowering it to reveal a spoon full of ice-cream that he continues to eat with much joy. By this time, narration begins to play as the camera slowly pans out to reveal that the man made of the product is scooping ice-cream out of his own head and eating it. As the viewer watches this, the narration describes the many joys that come from eating this particular ice-cream brand. By the end of the commercial, the official logo fades in and replaces the strange human/ice-cream mutant. After the airing of this commercial, the little ice-cream shop gained extrema popularity for its strange choice in advertisement. One other commercial featured the strange man made of ice-cream while anther had people with three mouths, which included two where the eyes should have been. The commercial “This Is A Special Time,” is a prime example of how the advertising tactic of shock can have a huge effect on a large population. A tactic like this is not as common in the United States, which gave this small company a great opportunity to put something out there strange and slightly terrifying. Although the viewer is creeped out or shocked, the viewer is left with curiosity, which can lead to business. The lasting impression of this commercial still haunts viewers to this very day and the video still gets millions of views to this

    In the early 2010’s fast food, with health twists was popular. The population was becoming more worried and conscience about what they fed themselves and their families, and this, combined with the always-busy, modern-day society in need of quick meals, gives an opening for fast-food restaurants like Taco Time, Chipotle, and Taco Del Mar to spot light their greasy-burger-free, and sometimes organic, menus. In 2010 Chipotle released a commercial called “Scarecrow” showing an animated scarecrow witnessing the cruelness and fraud and of big food corporations, and then starting his own organic restaurant, which the audience assumes is Chipotle; all to the tune of “Pure Imagination” covered by Fiona Apple.
