How Are Heroes Brave
Hero. That word has become so broad and widely used that it seems undefinable. People say that their heroes are sports stars, celebrities, or fictional characters. None of those are real heroes. Heroes are brave people who are motivated to help others, not just anybody in the spotlight.
Heroes are brave. They put their life on the line to save others. An example of this happened on December 3 when state trooper Michael J. Miles saved an unnamed 3 year old boy from his abductor, Michael Ramirez, who had taken him from his home. After Ramirez escaped the police's tail on him, he ran into the North Carolina forest where “Miles used his knowledge of the area to… approach him on foot” (Hero Trooper Saves 3 Year Old After Amber Alert 1). That is bravery. He put his fears aside so he could save a little boy because he knew that by the time people would come to help it could be too late. Without Miles’ bravery, that little boy might not be alive. Bravery, however, is not the only important quality of a hero.
Heroes are motivated to help others. It doesn’t matter what their motivation is- whether it be love, greed, guilt,

Gwyneth Paltrow is seen to be a hero for nearly running a woman over with her car. This “chance meeting” (Willis, Jackie) made the woman late for her job at the World Trade Center- on 9/11. Paltrow is in no way a hero because of this. Had it been any other day, she would’ve gotten bad publicity for almost hitting someone with her car. Instead, it’s a miracle that people believe to be all her doing. Football stars also seem to undeservingly don the title of hero for being good at what they do. Louisville quarterback Kyle Bolin was deemed a hero for leading his team to victory even though they were the underdogs, but there was nothing heroic about what he did. He was just playing the sport he loves. He wasn’t really helping anyone but himself. People are too ready to accept people they already admire as

People read and watch things about heroes all the time because in the deepest reaches of their mind they aspire to be among their ranks. The problem with the average person’s desire to be a hero is that they don’t truly know what a hero is. A hero is able to bounce back from a defeat that would stop any normal man in their tracks, they are inspirational, they gain followers and believers just by doing what they think is right, and they don’t have to be strong, but have to be able to take mental punishment like no other.…

When one thinks of a hero, bravery is often a common quality, but there are many examples of bravery. good TS In Beowulf, he displays countless actions of bravery, but one that really stands out in the text is when he is old and has to face the dragon that is terrorisufficatingzing his kingdom; “I won’t shift a foot when I meet the cave-guard: what occurs on the walls between the two of us will turn out as fate, overseer of men, decides” (283-286). Martin Luther King Jr. displayed bravery in a different way. Being that he was a leader of the civil rights movement, Dr. King had to stand up to all around the world to get his message out that whites and blacks can live together as one civil society; “A hero, he confronted death with courage: a saint, he enriched the souls of even his bitterest enemies” ("Marks of Modern Sainthood"). The 9/11 responders have to considered some of the bravest heroes in the modern day. Running into a burning building on the verge of collapsing takes a lot of guts and they did it all to save some of the people who were still inside of the twin towers. Heroes aren’t brave because they have no fear, but because they are willing to overcome that fear. The denotation of courage is ‘the ability to do something that frightens one.’ A hero doesn’t display courage if he isn’t fearful of his circumstances or the actions he must take. The triumph over fear, overcoming something hard, dangerous, or frightening, is what shows bravery. Willingly going against fear-no matter how big it is-to rescue, save, or bring justice, is heroic. The former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, once said, “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” A cowardice may seem to have the simple way out, being subject to backing out and not having to face difficult situations, however, the act of bravery bears more fruit in character. While a coward reaps nothing more than a failure mentality, a hero-someone brave- overcomes fear and grows a mentality of endurance. After shying away from trials, a coward sees that he can’t do strenuous work (or won’t) and doesn’t try again, but a brave man sees that he can overcome hard things and is encouraged to jump over more hurdles.…

A hero would never take advantage or be mean to someone instead they are brave and inspiring…

A hero never does heroic actions just so people recognize and praise them. Many heroes are not even recognized for their actions, but that doesn’t stop them from continuing and doing the right things. For example, soldiers who are constantly fighting for our country. Not every single one of them end up on the news, or trend on twitter, but they don’t stop fighting for our country because of that. They know it is the right thing so therefore they will continue doing it, praised or not. As Tom Hanks said, “A hero is somebody who voluntarily walks into the unknown.” Also a hero is not someone who gives up because of one obstacle. A hero is an individual who keeps going even in spite of the immense obstacle. For instance, in the poem, ‘A Man’, the poet describes a soldier who loses his arm while fighting for his country. In the beginning of her poem, she describes the soldier’s physical limitations from losing his arm, yet the soldier speaks of compensating for his physical disability with enthusiasm, “He set himself to do everything with twice as much enthusiasm. And where the arm had been torn away a wing grew” (Line 15). The first part dwells on the thought he can only do half of everything, such as a harvest, either tune or play an accompaniment on a piano, banging on a door, and holding his…

Rob Cipriano,CEO of the All humanity Group, states that “A hero is someone who we determine to have demonstrated behaviours and decisions that are ethically and emotionally worthy of our awe. We see in them something we think is not in us. Someone who inspires us by their example. Someone who moves us emotionally to connect with them at some level in order for us develop a connection with them. In many cases, it is their accomplishments. We have been granted access to their triumphant consummations of acts and deeds which, we believe, are beyond our own capacities. Their achievements become the new “superhero” standard to measure against. That we connect with a hero because a hero connects with us. Even though they have done that which, we think, is beyond us, they connect with us.” (What is a hero, Rob Cipriano, Sep 06, 2014 retrieved from http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rob-cipriano/what-is-a-hero_b_5560441.html) We admire those because of their accomplishments. It hints at the idea that there is no such perfect hero, but individual that do good things. If we look at the Jesse James movie, Robert would be a prime example, as he looked up to Jesse as a man who does things only he wished he could possibly do. Philip Zimbardo, a professor emeritus of psychology at Stanford University, says that we all have inner…

The first reason why heroes exist today is that people are brave. Bravery is when someone goes towards danger and aren't scared. Melissa Hawkinson that bravery by saving a young boy's life. The article from Reader's Digest says “ she tugged on the window until it opened and then pulled the boy out of the car that was sinking in the water and swam free to the shore then handed him to the bystanders.” The evidence used shows what bravery is and what it means to be a hero and that it's not easy to go towards harm's way to save…
