Introduction
There are key factors that affect health care practices and human resources management. As a Human Resources manager at an acute care hospital, I have been asked to write a document that outlines the steps I would take as the manager of HR to improve the effectiveness of HRM in this organization. The primary reason human resources, senior executives and organization manager’s should work together is because both parties have a vested interest in ensuring the company achieves success. Senior executive’s that have power and influence are respected and respect leads to involvement and interdependence throughout the organization. One specific employment law that would affect the hiring and selection process at the acute hospital in the community would be the Equal Pay act. The Equal Pay act was an amendment to the Fair Labor Standards Act. This act prohibited the payment of unequal wages for men and women who worked for the same employer in the same established performing equal work on jobs requiring equal skill, effort and responsibility, and performed under similar working conditions.
Conclusion
The human resources department provides vital services to any organization and the health care providers are no exception to this rule. (Fallon and McConnell 2012). Proper management of human resources is critical in providing a high quality of health care. A refocus on human resources management in health care and more research are needed to develop a properly structured organization. Effective human resources management strategies are greatly needed to achieve better outcomes from and access to health care.
