TASK 1: DETERMINE DEVELOPMENT NEEDS
1) LEGISLATION
a. What is the name of this body? The name of the Commonwealth Government body that administers the national antidiscrimination legislation is the Australian Human Rights Commission

b. List the titles of the different legislation, including the year that governs antidiscrimination for the Commonwealth or Federal Government. The different legislations that govern anti-discrimination are the following: Age discrimination act 2004 Disability Discrimination 1992 Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Act 1986 Sex discrimination act 1984 Racial Discrimination act 1975

c. From July 1 2009, most Australian workplaces are governed by a new system created by the Fair Work Act 2009. Who will administer this act and what will they do in relation to enforcing Commonwealth workplace law? The new system created by the Fair Work act 2009 is The Fair Work Ombudsman. It provides advice and information, investigate workplace complaints and enforce Commonwealth workplace laws.

d. Look up the website of the body governing anti-discrimination legislation in your state and list the name of the administering body and title of the legislation (as required in a. and b. above). The administering body who is governing anti-discrimination in Queensland is “The Antidiscrimination commission Queensland (anti-discrimination act 1991).”

e. In your own words, describe what unlawful discrimination is and how it can occur in regards to training. An unlawful discrimination is how we call an action that someone did out of the law. Unlawful discrimination occurs when someone, or a group of people, is treated less favorably than another person or group because of their race, color, national or ethnic origin, sex, pregnancy or marital status, age, disability, religion, sexual preference, trade union activity or some other characteristic specified under anti-discrimination or human rights
