Haunted House

To Walk Through, or Not to Walk Through
October is not only the month for fall, but the month for Halloween. Halloween means costumes, trick-or-treating, scary movies, and last but not least--haunted houses! I dread going to a haunted house. Unfortunately if I do not go, I get teased by my friends. Learning how to walk through a haunted house is scary but possible to do.
As my friends and I stood gazing at the run-down house, my body shivered, as though, chills had just trickled down my spine. The cold air wrapped my entire body. The multiple layers of clothing I was wearing could not save me against the deathly cold. The walkway leading up to house is cracked. Weeds and dandelions peer out in every direction. The moonlight casted a chilling glow on the house. Vines formed a twisted maze upon the side of house, reaching their tentacles towards the roof. The house's walls showed black decay by years of neglect. Splotches of original paint hinted at the house former prosperity. Cobwebs covered the corners of the doors and hairy black spiders threading towards their prey. I thought to myself, this house could be in a horror movie!
First I had to prepare myself for what I was about to enter. I warn my friends not to scare me, because I’m sure the house will take care of that job by itself. As the door creaks open, be the nicer friend, you know the one that lets their friends go in first. As I made way through the tattered house, I made sure to keep some distance from my friends. However, I made sure I stayed close enough to then to the point where I would not get lost in the dark with misty fog.
I prepare myself for ghostly sounds whispering my name and screams coming from down the hall. As I was looking for what was next to come around the corner, I felt my friends hand grip become tighter and their palms becoming a bit sweatier. I do not know about you, but when I am around people that seem more scared than I am, then I feel that I should be as scared as them and tend to tense up and finding myself with goose bumps on my arms.
As we tip toed our way around the corner, I held my breath to prevent myself from screaming. If things seem suspicious, make sure to look above you and also behind you, just to make sure some guy covered in a white sheet is not trying to scare you. I know when I enter a dark room, my eyes become as big as an owls observing around in the dark, but leaves me wishing I could also turn my head a full 180 degrees!
Down the hall what appears to be a chainsaw like noise scared us tremendously. My friends had heard of rumors that a boy had his arm cut off in years past because he was alone. As we granny walked down the hallway, my friends and I kept a good grip of each other just in case anything terrifying occurred. As we inched closer, we came to find out that the noise was a tape recording of an actual chainsaw. Bottom line, do not listen to what others have “heard”, because they are only trying to frighten you more than you already are.
As I reach towards the end I began to wonder, did they save the best scare for last? The smartest of my friends and I was the one who put herself in the middle, because towards the end things start popping out of nowhere and reach for your arms to scare you! “Boo!” So next time, remember to stay in the middle of everyone, so nothing can get ahold of you.
After we ran as fast as we could until we were about a mile away from the house, we turned and looked at each other and realized, “That was all?” Yeah, that actually was all! No one wants to talk through a haunted house because of stories that have been told but after but haunted houses are not so bad after all. Know that haunted houses will not kill you, or leave you scarred for life. Haunted houses are only plain clean fun. This may help you later in life, when you decide to take someone else along, who might be just as scared as you were the first time going, just so you can get a good laugh after!
