Gun Control Gun Control is a topic that has been talked about for many years now especially after many tragic deaths and other instances that have happened in past. Gun control has become one of the most important battles of 2013. In a press conference last month, President Obama pushed Congress to ban “assault” rifes and weapons, setting a limit for magazines to 10 bullets, and to introduce universal background checks for the buyers of firearms.”The debate over gun control and gun ownership is focused on the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution which states that people have the right to keep and bear arms. Advocates of Gun Control think right does not lead to the owenership of a military-style weapon that are also known as Assault rifles. It is tragic and infamous events such as The sandy hook elementary, or The Columbine High School shooting that truly make people think and question the United States ' gun laws and issues. They look at events such as the Columbine High school shoooting in 1999 which ended up in the 14 deaths of students, in support of banning assault rifles. Gun rights g roups that are often led by the National Rife Association, debate that these and other p roposals breach the constitutional rights and the 2nd ammendment. Across the U.S, people are debating how effective Obama 's gun-control proposals are. Commentators on the right say that limiting guns will not stop or end the violence and point out no matter what laws the congress will pass, felons and criminals will still find a way to arm themselves well. On the left however, they state that automatic weapons and magazines with large capacity arent a necessity for hunting or self defense in the home. The United States has very liberal gun control laws, and it has the highest rate of gun owners in the world.
