What grade were you in? The teacher I choose to write about is a High School educator whose name is Mrs. Wright. I had her from my sophomore through my senior year. She was the resource teacher for these grades. I have test anxiety, have has it since I was a young child, and she could get me through without having a panic attack or having to go to the ladies room to puck. This woman was always there to support me while I work through the good and tough times in school no matter what it was. A kindhearted woman, that truly cared, no matter who you were, and what problem you may be facing. She always put a smile on your face and happiness in your heart. She always assisted me when I needed it or if I did not grasp something, she would make…

In order to be a successful student there are many requirements that a person needs to complete before calling themselves a "student". In the reading, “The achievement of desire” Richard Rodriguez was a student who faced many challenges that made him work hard and earn what he wanted to obtain out of his education. Another important character in the reading “Learning to read” who also wanted to challenge the status quo and prove his community that nothing is impossible was Malcolm X. He fought for the black people 's rights and encouraged others to maintain strong and solid. To be more specific, it takes dedication, intelligence, self-determination and creativity in order for a student to receive better results and advantages.…

    Second Grade Experience

During my second year in elementary school, due to the fact that I was doing so horribly in my grades, my parents decided to send me back to El Salvador to bring up my grades. In El Salvador, I lived with my grandma, my cousins, my great aunts and uncles, and most of my family. The schools in El Salvador were so much more different than the schools in America. Since El Salvador is a poor country, the schools couldn’t afford to serve lunch and the houses were much smaller. In America, most kids did not really walk or play outside; they were usually kept locked up in their room, sipping on juice and watching tv. But the kids in El Salvador; they knew how to live their life with meaning. Every single day, as I made more and more friends, I would go to the soccer field and play games outside. We would play tag, soccer, baseball, soft ball; pretty much any kind of sport you could imagine. The soccer fields in El Salvador were the place where I, eventually, learned to play softball. Softball is like baseball but is usually referred to as, “baseball but for girls.” After learning how to play softball, I decided to join a small softball team that was formed in my second grade class of elementary school. Being on that team, allowed me to be at the fields even more and taught me to love the sport. The idea of fresh air, blue skies, grass stains, balls, and bats made me excited and energetic. Every time I hit the ball with my bat, I ran as fast as my legs could take me, striving to reach the home plate and score a point for my team. Running on the fields all day and hanging out with friends, giggling at our innocent, naïve quirks and remarks gave my childhood, memories of freedom and promise. I now look at life like a baseball diamond; you just have to hit the ball and keep running until you finally reach home plate and…

    5th Grade Experience

My fifth grade experience was a very confusing experience for a 10 year old. I was transitioned into a better neighborhood because my parents wanted the best education with the most positive surroundings that were possible in our area of Conroe, Texas. I went to a predominately “white” area where the morals and teachings of schools were a bit more robust and structured. I was offered this chance at school because we used my uncle’s address to prove that I was in that school zone. The teachers in this area had a sense of “teaching” rather than getting the students to learn the material, as mentioned in Jean Anyon’s article “Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work”…

    Grade Thinking

In “Thinking as a Hobby”, William believes that most people are grade three thinkers. Grade three thinkers tend to feel, and not to think. Golding gives an example of his teacher Mr. Houghton, who would always talk about “good life, sexless, and free of duty”, while “his neck would turn of itself” if a girl passed by the window (164). I think he is right; most people will speak or do without speaking. For example, William says in his essay, “A crowd of grade-three thinkers, all shouting the same thing, all warming their hands at the fire of their own prejudices, will not thank you for pointing out the contradictions in their beliefs” (165). I have known of people speaking their minds, and not caring if it hurts the other person. To be a grade-three thinker is to live the unexpected life. One particular individual that he describes in this passage is a school teacher by the name of Miss Parson. He feels that Miss Parson pretended to care, and to be concerned for her class. Actually, the only concern she had was finding her a husband. To me, grade three thinkers are considered immature and selfish. When you try to reason with them, they either respond one of two ways, they get mad and turn it into a shouting match or they get defensive. I thought William did a good job on describing grade three thinkers, because it describes most people. People only care about themselves, and not how it may affect others. Also, grade three thinkers, often think everything is true and will fight with anyone if they try to prove them wrong. Overall, William Golding did an excellent job on grade three…
