In January in the year 1917, the Zimmerman Telegram was sent ultimately to the Mexican president Venustiano Carranza by the Foreign Secretary of the German Empire, Arthur Zimmerman who had the intention to slow us down from entering the war. Mexico declined Germany's offer because Mexico knew it could not beat us, but on February Germany still implemented unrestricted submarine warfare and assumed that we would declare war on Germany and enter World War 1. After British intelligence intercepted the telegram and recognized the effect it would have on us and our opinion, they released it in America on February 24th 1917. The telegram was sent through a telegraph which was the way technology was brought into this happening. Our president Wilson saw the note on the 24th and it was released…

On the 28th on June 1914, the world descended into chaos, forced into all-out war through hasty alliances and aggressive manoeuvres. 5 years and 37 million casualties later, a truce was made. The 28th of January in 1919 saw the Palace of Versailles play host to a meeting of the world’s superpowers. Woodrow Wilson of the United States, Lloyd George of the United Kingdom, and Georges Clemenceau of France were all present to re-draw the map of the world, introducing a highly controversial treaty that protected their interests, but pointed all blame to the ‘Triple Alliance,’ consisting of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy.…

In 1793, France was at war with it’s surrounding countries; Austria, Prussia, Sardinia, Great Britain, and the United Netherlands. France turned to America for support because in America’s time of need, during The American Revolution, France aided America. France thought it was time for America to repay them. In response, the US drafted the Proclamation of Neutrality which said that they would not be taking any side in the war. Although some may say that America was obligated to aid France, America made the right decision to stay neutral, since America was vulnerable lacking a strong army, and they had no legal obligation to take action.…

One of these is the medieval fortress recognized as “Bastille”. This was a royal prison used to house political prisoners. It was a symbol of royal authority in the heart of Paris, to drain there irritation the peasants stormed the Bastille, not to free the seven inmates but to prove they are prepared to take action against the kings absurd ways. In reaction King Louis withdrew his troops from Paris. Another one is the attack on “Tuleries Palace”. The Austrian artily and its Prussian allies were forming together on the borders of France, preparing to march. The outbreak of rebellion behavior was becoming more often and more radical. On august 10th 1792, 20,000 people stormed the royal palace. The palace was conquered, but the king and queen managed to escape under the distraction of their armed forces. The last one I will share is the “Reign of Terror” which was a period of violence. “Maximilien Robespierre” was the dignitary of this movement; he aimed to sentence anyone who was rebellious towards the revolution to the guillotine. So the during the revolution he didn’t have to fight the battle on two fronts. July 28 1994 he himself was sentenced to death by guillotine which ended the Reign of…

World War I ended very badly for the Prussians. They were broken into smaller nations. Lands were taken from them. Their methods of wealth gathering from previous investments were seized away from them. Any possible modes of financial stability were looking bleaker with the continuance of the reparations coming out of the Great War. Even when the new Germany did create wealth, the French would take it away from them because of overdue payments. There was no financial hope because the French were so relentless with their strict enforcement of the Treaty of Versailles. The enduring vengeance that the French leaders had towards Germany after WWI was eventually viewed by Germans as greed. The ruthless attitude of the French capitalists developed into an overall…

Before a revolution over the Absolutist State happened, it had to be conceivable. The Age of the Enlightenment saw cultural and intellectual forces emphasize reason, logic, analysis and individualism, changing the perspective of traditional medieval society. It fostered the critique of society and institutions, especially of despotism and the Church, laying the foundations for a new order. The French Revolution is a movement that is very widely studied amongst historians. It therefore has many interpretations as to its causes and effects. A classic interpretation, predominant in the work of Marxist historians, view the French Revolution in terms of a class struggle between the bourgeoisie and the landowning nobility, leading to the transition…

    Britain In The 1860s

Things were quite different in Britain during the 1800s than it is today. There was no Child Protective Services. Women could not vote, nor did they get proper education. In order to support the family’s income children had to work from an early age. They worked as chimneysweepers, sellers in the streets, prostitutes, pot makers, coalminers etc. and had really long hours; often from early morning until late at night (which was similar to a fully-grown man’s working hours). Today that would be unacceptable. In this text you will read further into why children had to work and other inequalities of our time and the 19th century.…
