“Revolution”, the single version, was recorded in the studio in July 1968. Originally, The Beatles recorded “Revolution” as a combination of “Revolution 1” and “Revolution 9”, written by John Lennon, for the White Album that was released later that year. Eventually, “Revolution 1” and “Revolution 9” were split into two tracks. “Revolution 1” was suppose to be the next single from the group. However, McCartney and Harrison had objections to the track for it’s tempo was too slow to be a single. After some objection from Lennon, they re-recorded the track at a moderate tempo and with heavily distorted electric guitars. The song became a raw, raucous, and feverous rock single. This outspoken and feverish single stands as one of Lennon’s first…

The Beatles first single “Love Me Do” released on 5th October 1962 became the first single and managed to hit the UK charts. The song peaked at No. 17 and arguable allowed a number of Liverpool performers able to follow them into the charts, including Gerry & The Pacemakers and The Searchers. Love me Do is in the musical key of G major with a Mixolydian modal inflection. The song has a common time signature in AABA form with partial reprise. The arrangement of the composition featured vocals, harmonica, acoustic rhythm guitar, tambourine, and drums. The use of a Harmonic as a lead instrument played by John Lennon is a prominent feature of the composition that creates melody against the open chords played on the acoustic guitar by George Harrison. John Lennon oddly plays the F natural as the first note of the opening motif on the harmonica, which adds an Mixolydian modal inflection. George Harrison plays the chords G major and C major before moving the chords to D major, C major and G major for the middle eight. The motifs and instrumental solo of the Harmonica played by John Lennon has a bluesy feel along with the Shuffle drum beat complimented with the Tambourine. The song was completely co-written by Paul McCartney and…

Now in the USA, the Beatles released twenty albums between the years of 1962 to 1970 and became the number one rock group during these years (Wikipedia). They also became the first and only group in recording history to release a hit song on both sides of a single 45 rpm record as well to have twenty songs reach number one (The Beatles: Introduction). The Beatles lasted from 1962 to 1970 with many of their songs becoming instant successes. Often the concerts were short with them playing less than half an hour, yet the crowd went crazy and loved them. For example, their first concert in America at the Washington Coliseum was a huge surprise to the Beatles. In Davies biography of the Beatles, Ringo states, "Unlike in Britain where a decent 2,000 people showed up, in America the crowd was packed more than 20,000!" (241). Wherever the…
