Employee Development and Strategy
Employee development plays a major role in the organizational strategy. In order for a company to move forward and be successful the employee’s must stay fresh with new ideas, updated on the latest technologies and as well the company’s information. Employee development contributes to success of both employee and the company. This paper will discuss the relationship between employee development and organizational strategy within AT&T.
AT&T’s mission is to exploit technical innovations for the benefit of AT&T and its customers by implementing next-generation technologies and network advancements in AT&T 's services and operations. AT&T’s vision is to maintain leadership in the telecommunication arena; to design and create in this decade the new global network, processes, and service platforms that maximize automation, allowing for a reallocation of human resources to more complex and productive work. AT&T thrives to be the world’s fastest and reliable global network which all other companies measure against (Mission & Vision, 2008). AT&T’s main goal is to connect people with their world, everywhere they live and work and do it better than anyone else. AT&T spends a lot of time and money on keeping their employee on top of the latest news in technology and within the company.
Applicants are put through a series of interviews and testing to give the company a way to select which candidates are the best. After being hired, new hires are undergo an extensive training where they are given the tools needed to be successful within the company. Employees go through several trainings monthly. The trainings are self paced involve information including the latest products and service and any company changes. With making sure each employee has the opportunity to train and gain company knowledge the company is ensured their
