Nearing the end of my road to the Eagle Scout award I am finding that my purpose in life is becoming more clear. Through scouts and the other activities that I have surrounded myself with, I have come to realize that I want to be a leader. In the leadership positions I have held I have picked up so many skills that I am going to use in my life. I don’t just want to be one type of leader though. I would like to be a leader in the workplace, morally, and within my family. It only seems right to keep my life going in that direction.…
Leadership is something I strive for in my everyday life. In Troop 157 I have had many opportunities to demonstrate my leadership skills. In troop 157 I have been a quartermaster, senior patrol leader, and I am currently an assistant senior patrol leader. I was also a den chief with troop 868. I have planned 4 trips so far and also guided other scouts in their planning. At school I practice leadership in Skills USA, which is a business oriented club. In this organization I am the Junior Officer and I assist in the planning of events.…

The four pillars of the National Honor Society; scholarship, leadership, character, and service are the four qualities of a well-rounded individual. They have not only embodied who I strive to be, but have helped me achieve success and impact throughout my local community and my time as a national honor society member. Scholarship has helped me define not only who I am as a student, but has helped me prepare for my future. Without my drive to maintain my academics and pursue knowledge, I would not have discovered my love and passion for teaching. This newly discovered passion has helped me narrow down my future career, special education. Service, has helped me develop one of my individual characteristics, as I now understand the importance…
The four pillars of National Honors Society, scholarship, service, leadership, and character, have paved a path for me as a student and as a person. Scholarship has taught me to strive to be the best student I can be. I use scholarship to keep up with my school work and never give up when a class is hard. I always strive for the best grade I can get and I will stop at nothing until I reach my goal. I will continue to use scholarship as I go to college and pursue my dream as a pediatric dentist. I will study, I will learn, and I will never give up no matter what happens along the way. I use service when I volunteered to help my local private school. I was never asked to do so, but I felt as if I was giving back to a school that had done so much…
“The hardest obstacle to overcome in any leadership position is getting past the apathy to get people involved in the process to get things done…The greatest enemy to accomplishment is apathy” (Burke). National Honor Society upholds its members to have 4 important values. These being scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership, in my opinion, is a very important aspect in National Honors Society because you are expected to be a role model by positively inspiring people around you. This quote stuck out because it says that inspiring people is a way to overcome obstacles in leadership. If you inspire people and make them get rid of their apathy, you can overcome stalling in the process and reach accomplishment.…
Having been involved in the scouting program for well over a decade and with most of which being during the most formative times of my life, Scouting has certainly contributed to my desire to become a Marine Corps Officer. From the onset of the scouting program I have been instilled with many values, starting every scout function with the scout law, “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.” While there are many valuable principles thought by both the scouts and the Marine Corps the (65)three main values that both organizations stress of honor, courage, and commitment are among the ones I hold most high. The familiar sense of brotherhood within the Marine Corps is also something that I feel a very close and strong connection with is brotherhood is and was a fundamental part of my close-nit high school community. As an Eagle Scout I was taught to lead by example and as a marine I would strive to do the same, leading from the front and always living up to the standards of honor, courage, and commitment set forth by the Navy and Marine Corps long time-honored history.(63)(128)…
I have involved myself in a multitude of different organizations throughout middle and high school. With everything from experience in scouting, to coaching, to work with Habitat for Humanity, the importance of leadership skills has become evident to me. They have given me experience that has made me more successful in school currently, and I intend for them to help me in my educational endeavors at East Carolina University as well. The experience I will receive in the…
Throughout scouting the eagle represents strength, character, and understanding of citizenship in both the community and nation. To be an Eagle Scout is to be a leader and a role model for all scouts. Becoming an Eagle Scout represents years of dedicated effort to my troop, my community and to myself and I am glad that I get to share this experience with all of you who have supported me throughout my…
The National Honor Society is a group of students that exemplify the traits of leadership, character, citizenship, and intelligence. It is crucial that the future members of this organization exhibit these characteristics to the best of their abilities. For a great majority of my student life, I strived to perform these traits to my utmost capability, aiming to become an excellent example for my fellow peers. Throughout my high school career, I have been on the honor role for every quarter thus far. I feel deep pride and satisfaction in my grades and scholarly accomplishments, for they are a visual example of the hard work and large amount of effort I put into my studies. Although I not acquired any formal leadership positions, I exert my leadership abilities by example. In my classes, I often…
This project has taught me scholarship, service, and leadership, and this has truly changed my character. The rank of Eagle Scouts represents a young man’s dedication to learning, his time for the community, and his ability to lead. This Scouting journey has taught me a myriad of skills, wisdom, and knowledge that cannot be expressed in words. This experience has helped shape me into the dexterous person I am…
Within the Boy Scouts of America I have spearheaded many events and have held a multitude of positions such as,…
I learned how to set goals, how to perform and command military drill, how to wear a uniform, and a number of other life skills like time management. I learned the value of community service and how enjoyable it is to contribute to good causes. Through JROTC I volunteered at various organizations like the Lion’s Club, The Elk’s Lodge, and supported school functions. My first year I joined the unarmed drill team, and became the commander of the first year team. My second year I took over the regulation team and I still continue to command it. I am the first four year drill commander our corps has ever had, and I lead the team to three first places and one third place (which contributed to our corps winning the drill state championship) all in one season. After he state championship, my art overlapped with JROTC when they asked me to design t shirts for the winning…
The career that I would love to pursue would be one in the United States Military. I would like to eventually become an Infantry Officer or an Aircraft Maintenance Officer in the United States Marine Corps. The reason is I want to be part of a force that could stand up to any enemy and fight for the country that I live in and the people in it.…
I believe joining the Army ROTC will help grow me into a stronger leader through the experience, knowledge, and skills I will gain. As an Eagle Scout I have learned some important leadership skills. I believe I can exploit these skills in an Army career as well as build upon them and enhance them through ROTC. I have discovered that experiences and challenges support growth and maturity. Having an ordinary job, unchallenging work, or a mediocre position in life do not appeal to me. I want to have colorful experiences, mentally demanding challenges, and hard work so I can mature into a stronger and wiser leader.…
