Naturalistic Observation in a Daycare Center There were lots of things I noticed from the Daycare Center. I observed a lot of children playing on their own their ages ranged from 0 to 8 years of age. I noticed how parents dropped off their children at the daycare center and how quickly each child adapted to the environment. Piaget was interested in how an organism adapts to its environment. Piaget described two processes used by individual to adapt which were assimilation and accommodation. Both of these processes are used throughout life as the person increasingly adapts to the environment in a more complex manner. He was able to make different sounds almost as if he was about to call mama and dada. Piaget deduced that the first schemas of an infant are to do with movement. He believed that much of a baby's behavior is triggered by certain stimuli, in that they are reflexive. A few weeks after birth, the baby begins to understand some of the information it is receiving from its senses, and learns to use some muscles and limbs for movement. The child is able to make pleasure sounds like cooing. The child mostly cries for different needs and smiles when he sees his mother, father or someone’s he is used to. From four to six months, the child responds to human voices without visual cues by turning his head and eyes, making a babbling sound more speech like which contains different sounds like d, and m. I also observed that he knew his name. Between 12 months and 18 months of age the child uses his own language called “jargon language” which is a mix of made up words and understandable words. The child points to, reaches for, and vocalizes for an object. The child says “no” meaningfully, the child would be able to identify about three body parts either on him or you. From 18 to 24 months, the child’s vocabulary develops rapidly from 50 to 200 words. The child may understand about 30 of those words “the average 18- month old can speak about
