Over years, the influence of mass media has increased tremendously, with the increase of technology. First there was reading material such as books, newspapers, and magazines along with photography. Then, sound recordings, films, radio, television, came thereafter; and now Internet, which is now the new media, is social media. However, theses types of media tools, do effect emotional arousal, sex and behavior identification, and changes in allocation of time, consumer purchase, and voting behavior. I read an article on Wall Street Journal about the Justice Department investigating the police force in Ferguson, Missouri. They suspect possible misconduct or discrimination against the 18-year-old, Michael Brown, who was shot by one of Ferguson’s Police officer, Darren Wilson. There is still question to whether the officer is charged or not. Ferguson and surrounding areas will be analyzed on their police training and policies. The Ferguson police force welcomes the investigation and analyzing so that they can improve in any way they need to serve the community better. Further investigation in this will help ease the Ferguson community and feel like they can trust their local police force. If there were not any more investigation, this would cause a lot of uneasiness upon the people of Ferguson. They expect thorough investigation to be done so that they know for sure what really happened and if the Ferguson police force is actually discriminating against the minorities in their community or not. The police force may be at fault for approaching situations the wrong way and coming off as discriminating with the community members.…

The Article: Plants 'Thrive' Next To Friendly Neighbors And Trees 'Gasp' For Water? Interesting! By “DOGO News” is about plants being able to talk to each other and grow next to each other because they want to. If you have ever noticed that certain plants seem to thrive next to each other, it may not be random, but because they want to be next to each other. At least that's what Monica Gagliano, thinks. She thinks that plants use some kind of sound indicating to talk with each other and depending on if it is good or bad it may allow the weaker plant to live or die. What's even more remarkable is that the scientist believes the talking can happen at the germination stage. She showed with some chili pepper, basil and fennel plants. She began by planting the chili seeds in isolated dishes next to fennel plants. Not many germinated. Then she conducted the same experiment next to some basil plants. Sure enough, the chili peppers not only germinated rapidly, but also, thrived. , Monica thinks that provided with this data, farmers may be able to use sound to encourage or discourage the growth of certain plants, helping to reduce their dependence on fertilizers and pesticides.…

This current event article is about the Supreme Court’s rule that allows people to give political campaigns money. The 5-4 ruling eliminated limits on how much money people can donate in total in one election season. However, the decision left intact the current $5,200 limit on how much an individual can give to any single candidate during a two-year election cycle. Until now, an individual donor could give up to $123,200 per cycle. The ruling means a wealthy liberal or conservative donor can give as much money as desired to federal election candidates across the country, as long as no candidate receives more than the $5,200 cap.…
