The French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars connect to the movements of Independence in the Americas in various ways. For instance, because France had been at war with a majority of Europe, this created an opening for the Americas to gain more control of their colonies. In addition to this, because Europe was weaker during the period of the French Revolution, America was able to put more towards gaining independence through enacting movements and so on. Moreover, the Napoleonic Wars connected as when a large portion of his troops had died, he accepted his inevitable defeat and gave up. To explain, following the spread of a rumor that the King of France had freed the slaves in 1789, hope arose for the free people of color and the slaves. In addition to that, the Spanish played a great role in the independence of slaves in Haiti as one of the leaders of the revolt helped create an army of slaves that could fight back against French troops with help from the Spanish support of the revolts in Saint-Domingue. Nonetheless, a country like the US did not recognize the achievements of the Haitian rebels despite L’ stunt even establishing a new condition for different reasons.
