Coconut oil’s competitors
The competitors of coconut oil can be divided into 2 into groups direct competitors and indirect competitors. For direct competitors consist of the existing cooking coconut-oil producers that transform coconut oil into solid form and put it in clear glass bottle and liquid form in plastic bottle. The second group is indirect competitors which consist of the products that are used to for frying, baking, food preparation, flavoring that doesn't involve heat and other types of cooking. This group includes butter, vegetable oil such as soybean oil and olive oil , margarine and animal oil.
Direct competitors Coconut oil
There’re many brands of cooking coconut oil that are imported into The Netherlands including unrefined and refined pure coconut oil in tons gets and coconut oil in containers from countries in the tropical regions including Philippines, Indonesia and Papua New Guiea. Once it in the Netherlands some of the packaged coconut oil are distributed and sold in the supermarket. For the unrefined and refined coconut oil are sent to several large companies for refining and processing of conventional coconut oil companies including Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), Cargill, Unilever and Vereenigde Oliefabrieken (United Oil Factories). The prices are different according to types and sizes. Refined or pure coconut oil prices are slightly higher than the unrefined or virgin and extra virgin.
Indirect competitors
Butter
Butter is the dairy product that is made from cow’s milk or fermented cream. Butter is used as a spread and a condiment , as well as in cooking ,such as baking sauce making and pan frying .The butter can be made from many animal rather than cow including sheep, goats, buffalo and yaks . The butter are flavored in 2 ways unsalted and salted. The form of butter and the way of usage which is using knife to cut into the piece of butter is similar to our product usage. However, the exceptions are that the price is less
