Children Act 1989 This act is to make sure that children's welfare and developmental needs are met, including their needs to be protected from any sort of harm. It is also to make sure that children are looked after properly and are getting the correct care and protection that they need at all times. All children have the right to live with their families unless there is a necessary reason that the child may be in danger and must be removed from their family home and placed in to care. The children's act is also provided in order for social services and other agencies to be aware on how to deal with issues relating to children. This is to make sure that children are growing up happy and healthily and to make sure that they are growing up to remain safe within the environment etc.
This act is to make sure that all children are getting the correct amount of care and support that they need, it allows all children to grow up be healthy as they should be when growing up in a loving home with people who really care about them and their healthy lifestyle. The act is also set to make sure that children are growing up feeling safe whilst living in their environment in order for them to grow up happily enjoying and succeeding in life, it helps to encourage children to make a positive input to their adult lives and to help them achieve stability in the future. The reason for this act is for agencies such as social services etc to be able to interact with each other so that are arrangements can be made in order to safeguard and improve the wellbeing of children and young people. The legislation on physical punishment is also fully updated because we are trying to make sure that it is made clear that it is an offence when hitting children if it is leaving the child with marks on them or leaving them with mental harm. All recorded information when dealing with complaints are needed and child protection procedures must be linked with the local safeguarding children boards procedures or the all wales child protection procedures. It is important that schools have a child protection policy in order to make sure that children feel safe whilst attending school and to make sure that they are aware that they will be listened to at all times by members of staff in their time of need. Child protection policy is also put in to place to develop a structured internal procedure to be followed by all members of staff with in the school community in cases of suspected child abuse.
