Risk assessments and Hygiene control
In this assignment I am going to talk about risk assessments and hygiene control that are put in place at a Primary School to keep the staff, children and visitors safe. I am going to describe some policies and procedure that the setting uses for risk assessments and hygiene procedures.

There are 5 steps to risk assessments. These are;
1. Identify the hazards.
2. Decide who might be harmed and how.
3. Evaluate the risks and decide on precaution.
4. Record your findings and implement them.
5. Review your assessment and update if necessary.

An example of a policy in my setting is safeguarding. This policy is about keeping the children safe whiles in school. The procedures in which the school does for this policy is to inform all the staff of the safeguarding in place and they also get given a copy of the policy. All new staff are given an introduction which tells them about the basic safeguarding information including the signs and symptoms of abuse, how to manage a disclosure from a child and also how to record and who to pass the information to. Security is an important policy in this setting because it prevents random strangers from entering the building and cause harm to children. The security in place at this setting are; doors are to be kept closed to prevent entry, visitors and volunteers only enter through the main entrance and must sign in at the main reception desk, safeguarding checks are made of all visitors by CRB checks, children are only allowed home with adults who have confirmed permission to care for the child, if a child is to go home throughout the school day then parents must ring up the school and let them know the child is going home and then the child must sign out and be collected from the reception. This is so no children can go off with stranger claiming to be picking them
