Biography
My name is Mary Crystal Claire S. Ancheta. I was born on the 31st day of July, year 1996 at V-Luna Medical Center, Cubao, Quezon City. I live in Air Force City, Clark Air Base, Pampanga. I live with my parents and siblings. My father is an honorable soldier for 21 years while my mother owns an internet café at Mabalacat and also manages a small canteen. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother. Because of my father’s frequently assignment and deployment, I went to different school when I was in my primary school years but graduated at San Jose Elementary School in San Simon Pampanga.

Year 2009 when I first came in this school. The School building is small it has only 2 rooms. Even though it was a small school with only few students, for me the school is a great place in learning and I do believe that all teachers can guide their students well. Deficiency of books is not a problem for me what matter is good and talented teacher can nourished every students mind. Since I was a neophyte in this school, I’m having difficulties to interact with my fellow students; the first person I became close with is Jackylyn Veloria since she’s my seatmate in class. Jacky is nice and friendly. After how many days I was able to have a circle of many friends. Then we decided to create a group. We called it MACK/CAME derived from our initials. MACK stands for Mikmik, Arott, Colling and Khring while CAME stands for Crystal, Angela, Mary Rose and Ella Mae.

The school offered me a lot to learn as I expected. Subjects like English, History and Arts were of special interest to me. Although I was good at studies throughout my academic life sports, drawing interested me the most. I’m fond in joining some of the schools extra curricular activities. I am also fond in playing volleyball. I am not a good player but I always give my best, as matter of fact our team AFCHS Team got the 1st place in Volleyball Girls Cluster Meet 2011. Ms. Rosario Dela Cruz, our class adviser taught me on how to have self-confidence especially in front of many audiences she selected me to take part in the Oratorical Contest in Mabalacat. Also every month of July, I always take part in the Poster Making Competition at school and always garnered a high score.

There are few things that I usually do in school; to read, to listen, to participate in discussions, to study and whenever we have vacant time, I spare my time talking with my friends and classmates. It makes me proud, knowing that I am one of the pioneers in this school. I am very thankful for this school taught me a lot of things. And now, for the 4th year of my high school life. I’ll never forget the joy and the laughter’s that I’ve shared with my teachers, classmates and to my fellow students in this school. And of course, the things that we shared, the strong bond and friendship we made. I will always treasure the many unforgettable memories that I encountered with them and I will always keep it in my heart and my mind for the rest of my life. I’m planning to take-up BS Psychology in the next school year. Taking a psychology course is a great way to increase my understanding of human mind and behavior. I am looking forward that this course could be a big help to look for a better career and to work on a prestigious and prominent company. I see myself 10 years from now as a successful career woman, living a happy and prosperous life, has a better salary that would be enough to provide me and my parents a comfortable life and probably to travel a lot. I want to travel around the world but no plans where I will be living. If everything goes fine along the way, with the Lord blessings; surely I’ll probably be a successful person. For me, 27 years of age is too early to have a family. I will just cross the bridge when I get there. But for the meantime, I wanted to be single; focused only on my goals in life and be able to find out what's in store for me.

The first book I selected to read for this assignment was “The Girl I Left Behind: A Narrative History of the Sixties” by Judith Nies and published by HarperCollins Publishers Inc. in 2008. The book is an autobiographical history of the authors personal and professional experiences. Judith Nies is a feminist activist and has spent much of her adult life promoting equal rights for women. She is a graduate of John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and has written several books and many articles appearing in such magazines and newspapers as the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Christian Science Monitor, Ms., the Harvard Review, and other publications. The second book I selected is also an autobiography “My American Journey” by Colin Powell with Joseph E. Persico. It was published by Ballantine Books in 1996. Colin Powell is a former Secretary of State and a retired four-star general in the United States Army. He was Secretary of State under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005. He was the first African American to serve in that position. During his military career, Powell also served as National Security Advisor (1987–1989), as Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command (1989) and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989–1993), holding the latter position during the Persian Gulf War. Arthur Evans ' Father was an Archeologist, which may have led to Evans ' discoveries. His father also collected, which may have resulted in Arthur a love of archeology. Evans studied at Oxford gaining a degree in Modern History; Arthur then went on to travel northern and eastern Europe. Evans and his wife, Margaret Freeman, visited Greece in 1883 where Evans then met Heinrich Schliemann, an Archeologist who had been excavating Mycenae and Mycenaen sites. After this meeting with Schliemann, Evans then went on to announce that he wanted to broaden the variety of artifacts of history beyond the classical, he wanted it to go to the ancient. This happened after he had gained Keeper of the Ashmolean Museum. However, it was not till 1893, after his wife died prematurely, that Evans would visit and make a discovery. Evans bought the sight at Knossos, planning to excavate the site himself. Again he was unable to start the actual excavation until the 23rd of March 1900 due to the political situation going on at that time. (Alliance For Lifelong Learning)…

MOST of the slaves who were imported into the American colonies, and into the United States before 1808, were brought from that part of the African coast which lies east of Cape Palmas, or still further south, but a considerable number came from the regions of the Gambia and Senegal rivers. These were mostly Mandingos, but partly Fulas. The Fulas are not precisely negroes, but seem to be a mixture of negro and Berber stock, and have long been devout Mohammedans. Among them, as among the Mandingos, education, to the point of reading the Koran and writing, was not infrequent. 1…
