Beware of the 3 Types of Friends…
Topic Paper #10: Classification of Friends
Anyone who has spent time with friends will notice that each one has a special personality all of their own. Friends, have different traits that make up their personalities. A sense of humor, great advice, and honesty are all things that come to mind when you think about a friend. Friends are important to have because they are a backbone when things get tough in life and are always there to love and support. However, anyone who has spent time with friends will notice that each one has a special personality with respect to their honesty, loyalty, and care. There are three major types of friends, which are acquaintances, social friends, and best friends. The first type of friend is simply an acquaintance. This means that you basically only know their name. Not even remembering what they look like. You usually meet these type of friends in school, at work, on the bus, in the gym, or anywhere else you might be. You normally would not mind having a cup of coffee with them, but if anything else came up, you would have no problem parting company. We see many people in the work. Sometimes we speak them compulsorily and we don’t remember even their face. While we are on the bus, we come across some people who get on the bus regulars like us. Therefore we call them as an acquaintance. Someone you know socially or through the business world would be called an acquaintance if you don't know them well personally. An acquaintance can remain a personal or business contact for you or can become a friend at some point. It depends on the relationship and the people involved. You may have some acquaintances you see over and over throughout your life that you never really get to know. However, they are still good people to know because they can connect you to potential friends. This group includes people who one talks to out of awkward obligation. Observed in their natural habitats of classrooms, bus seats, and the general public

Acquaintances are friends, but not close friends like the other two groups. They are the people one might see in the hall and smile at, classmates that sit next each other in class, and may talk about homework, sports team-mates that only talk to each other during practice or games, a colleague, or even someone who shares the same bus stop. Usually the only thing two acquaintances know about each other is their name. Acquaintances are pleasant people to talk to at a specific time, but there is never an effort made to get to know them more. In class, one particular girl is my acquaintance. We talk in school and many people would think that we are close friends; if there is a partner project for class we are partners, but outside of class and school we don’t see each other or talk. (Image 1) In some cases, friendship starts from first being acquaintances, and then later progress into a friendship. Although an acquaintance isn 't a close friend, they help you out and are important in your life, even in a small way.…

First of all, there are the friends that you only see during school. When you see them out in public, it is like they do not even exist. Usually, you have known them for many years, and still have not talked to them outside of school. These acquaintances are nice people to talk to, but nobody really puts in the extra effort to make it more than that. You never have to worry about taking chances with these types of friends. You just talk to them in school, and go on your marry way. These acquaintances are the people that you talk to about different hobbies and class studies. Not your own personal life. The first category, the occasional friends, encompasses three friend types. The first one is the grenade. This type of friend is usually annoying and tough to be around but they serve a critical purpose. They make you look better by comparison. Slightly better than the grenade, is the jerk with the heart of gold. Like the grenade they are generally annoying but unlike the grenade they are genuinely good people, willing to apologies and make amends for being so annoying. The final occasional friend is the school or work friend. They are the people who help you get through the school or work day that you never really see anywhere else. As the name suggests, occasional friends are not the type of people one would hang out with every day.…
