The company I currently work for is Henry Ford Health Systems West Bloomfield MI. And the President is Lynn Torossian. Lynn has only been with our company since December of 2013. Lynn has several leadership styles that have made a positive impact on me. One of the leadership styles that Lynn uses is Participative also known as democratic leadership style. While Lynn has the authority to make the final decision for the company she still values the input of the team members, peers and fellow employees of the hospital. Anther leadership style that Lynn uses is the Transformational leadership style. I have noticed that in the short period of time that Lynn is a motivator. She is always motivating us and sharing her vision of the future with us. Lynn also communicates very effectively with us through weekly news reports or via emails.…

In Figure 1.1, we have seen the typical organisation chart of a single division of the NHS. The one we have seen is just the tip of the iceberg. According to NHS Confederation (2006), there are 152 primary care trusts and each overseeing many hospitals. With such a huge number of employees, the NHS inevitably created a tall scalar chain in the organisation. The organisation is also split into many divisions managed by the primary care trusts.…

The three characteristics of leadership that I consider most valuable are (1) integrity, (2) humility, and (3) generosity. #1 integrity is defined as great sincerity, honesty, and virtue. Strength of character. All of these words describe great qualities that should be possessed or obtained in the individual or individuals considered to fill a leadership role with exceptional expectations! Great sincerity means that a person possesses honest, faithful, and genuine traits. Virtue is defined as moral excellence, morality, goodness, effectiveness of quality, purity and chastity, and innocence. #2 Humility, refers to being the condition or quality of being humble. #3 Generosity, to share or give without hesitation, unselfish, not mean or narrow-minded; forgiving!…

Through the course, I learned about leadership different styles and how they emerged and developed from the Trait Theories that focus on the leader characteristics to the Goal Orientations Theories that require collaborative methods between leaders and followers. As I mentioned before, I had always linked the leadership weight to the leader leading characteristics. However, I would argue now that leadership is gained through practice and experience and it is powered through followers. As a school leader, I will use a mixture of leadership theories. First, I will build my school on an ethical basement and then, I will structure a vision that is shared between everyone in the school. At this point of my study, I believe that the type of leadership…

    Leadership Self Analysis

As per MSMQ assessment my dominant leadership styles are "Coaching", "Coercive", and "Affiliative" and my least preferred styles are “Pacesetting”, “Visionary” and “Democratic” in that order. I expected to see myself high on coaching as I use that style a lot at my work, hence I was not surprised to see that as my most dominant style in self-assessment. I did not expect to see my coercive style usage to be high and visionary style usage to be low. In fact, I was under the impression that I am more authoritative than coercive. I try to set vision for the team and make lot of effort to involve people in my decisions. I would need to observe myself if I instead of setting vision for the team, am becoming too directive and task oriented. Also, Initially I was also surprised to find myself mid-high on affiliative style as I am not a very social person. However looking deeper into the style I did realize that I am generally very friendly with team members and always care about their emotional needs and promote interactions within team. Based on this I feel this assessment accurately captured my style usage as mid-high. I did expect my pacesetting and democratic style usage to be low as I do not use them a lot. Based on this profile I see myself having strengths in using coaching and affiliative style often and limiting my use of pacesetting style. However I still have to work on reducing my use of coercive style and increasing my use of visionary style. If I am able to overcome these 2 weaknesses I feel I would be very close to ideal leadership style of using good mix of authoritative, coaching, affiliative and democratic styles.…
