Argumentative Essay: Should Students Drive To Schools?
It is clearly stated in our nation's Declaration of Independence that all men, (and women for that matter) are created equal. So students should be able to drive to school in their vehicles just as faculty and staff do. For one, if schools did ban students from driving their cars to school, many students will complain to the school board because their whole purpose of getting a car was to have means of transportation to and from school. That is thousands of dollars wasted on a vehicle you spent your hard earned money on. Students would also complain about this issue because many students wouldn't want to wake up forty minutes early just to make it to a designated bus stop on time. Just as teachers have a job teaching, students have jobs as well. …show more content…
Even if that means waking up at six forty-five, knowing that you can make it to school in ten minutes with five minutes to spare before the tardy bell at seven. Another valid reason schools shouldn't ban students from driving to school is because say a student, who usually drives to school, rides the bus to school and has practice afterward. He must walk home from the school now because the bus doesn't wait around for two hours to pick up one single student, his parents are at work late, and no one else can drive due to this rule invoked by the school board. All in all, it is more of a hassle to ban kids from driving to school because it is unfair to students who have and pay for their own

Not only does it put the life of a student in danger, it puts all citizens in danger of losing their lives due to reckless driving. The schools classes need to start later in the day.…

Have you ever woken up feeling groggy and not wanting to go to school or do anything at all? As a result, many students go to school late or do not academically progress and participate in class. According to the Scholastic Scope article “Should School Start Later?” by Justin O’Neil and the article “Sleepy Teens: High School Should Start Later in the Morning” by Mark Fischetti, many schools are considering starting school later to help students succeed academically. Students have more trouble concentrating in class because they are not getting enough sleep. Some students arrive at school later because they oversleep. To make sure that there is less tardiness and the academic growth increases, schools are looking…

Over 20% of Americans suffer from sleep loss and more than 1,500 deaths a year are caused by drivers that have fallen asleep at the wheel. One way these two frightening statistics could be lowered is by simply changing school start times. Students need more sleep than what they are getting due to early school start times, which is getting sleepy drivers on the road. School start times should be later than they are now because middle school and high school students are “programmed” to sleep in, sleep improves grades and it also improves physical health.…

Waking up late in the morning, hustling out of bed and rushing to get ready is never fun because all the time you're getting ready you're concerned about being late for school or work or whatever place you have to be at. While you're rushing to get ready you rush to get to your destination which means you speed down the street in your car. You don't think much of it. You've sped before and everything was fine. Hey, you even think you're a pretty good driver. But all it takes is one over correction or one sharp turn or one dog or small child in the middle of the road for a life to be lost.…

For this debate I am debating why school time should stay the same. J.C.M.S middle school in Sierra Vista has a delayed start time of 9:00 a.m., and finish school at 4:00 p.m. This affects the children who are involved if afternoon sports, most time not getting out until 6:00 p.m sometimes later. If you have homework that same night after spending two hours doing a sport you might procrastinate and not do your homework at all or you will be tired and end up making mistakes that should not have been made. An earlier start time ensures an earlier release time letting sports start earlier and homework being done at an earlier time while not as exhausted from the day.…

Ever been stuck at a light behind somebody who is not paying attention because of their cell phone? It's annoying right. Well that might not be a problem anymore. Many states have banned the use of hand-held devices while driving. Knowing about all the people that have been killed in accidents involving cell phones, I one-hundred percent agree with this law. Using your cell phone while driving can lead to lack of focus on the road, especially among young drivers who are not as experienced as their adult counterparts. Driving takes an extreme amount of concentration, due to the many things that could happen on the road. From cars slamming on brakes in front of you, to people cutting in and out of traffic, you need to have your undivided…

First of all, according to sleepingresources.com, “When teens have an early start time and are driving to school in the morning while being tired, they are at a bigger risk for a traffic accident.” This is because when teens are driving and are tired their reaction times are slower. Secondly, tired drivers from early start times isn’t just affecting teens but also the parents who drive their teens to school. According to sleeping resources.com, “drowsiness contributes to over 100,000 car crashes per year.” So when a parent wakes up early to take their child to school they are tired and more at risk to get in a car crash causing them and their child to be in danger. Also, having a later start time for middle schoolers would lower the injuries that happen to the school’s athletes. This is because a tired athlete would be drowsy and have a later reaction time which could put them at higher risk for an injury. So, overall by making middle school start times later students will be much safer and will be at a lower risk for car accidents and injuries during the…

Some kids don’t participate during class because they are just too tired, which also leads them to not pay any attention. I believe that starting school later will allow kids to get more sleep, which will improve participation in classes. Kids are staying up late in the night trying to finish homework or are doing other things, then will have to wake up early to get ready and go to school. Teens who also drive to school each morning that have stayed up late are a danger to other people on the roads. From 15 to 20 year olds, 1,886 teens died in car crashes in 2015 alone according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.…

High schools have no right tell students if they can drive to school or not, I feel as a high school student if I have a license and a car then I should be allowed to drive to and from school without being forced to take the bus. For me school buses can be very crammed in with a bunch of kids in the morning and where I live kids can be pushing and shoving kids all over the place, after a while that becomes very irritating and pisses me off it’s like being in a caged with a bunch of wild animals. Other reasons are the buses can stink very bad and look like they haven’t been cleaned or the bus chair covers haven’t in years, since at times I can be a very big germophobe that simply just makes me want to throw up and pass outright there on the…

Taking away students right to drive their vehicle legally is ridiculous. When a student gets his or her license the first thing they want to do is drive. Being able to drive is a privilege that is earned so for a school to take that away is like taking away their freedom. By making students ride the bus also causes problems. For example some students may only have five out of seven classes they are taking. Another reason is that it would be an issue depending on where the student is on the bus route. If they are the first one on its route then they have to wake up extra early. The placement of the bus stop may also be an inconvenience to some…
