The short story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury demonstrates how people can act cruelly to others who are different. This is because there are several examples in the story. One example of this in the story is when the kids stay away from Margot because she is from Earth, while they’ve been there for most of their lives. One example of the other kids being cruel to Margot because of her differences is when they shun Margot and don’t include her. This is an example of the kids being cruel to her because of her differences because the other kids edge away from her, look away from her, and even just walk away just because she is from Earth. The story even states that “The biggest crime of all was that she (Margot) had just come here (Venus) only five years ago from Earth.” Another example is when the kids don’t are mean to Margot is when she reads her poem and they don’t believe her.
