The movie and the book are similar and different.
The First similar detail is that both setting are on Venus.Another one is that when they go out after it rained they only go out for an hour. Also, in both the story and movie Margot gets locked in a closet. In both the story and the book someone is mean to Margot.
Some differences are that in the book no one gave Margot flowers but in the movie they didn’t.In the movie they give more detail about the sun lamps and they have sun kits. Also instead of 7 years it is 9 years in the movie.Another reason is that in the book Margot is more frail. They also give more character details in the movie. The final difference that i’ll talk about is the bird attacks. Between the book and the film, there were attacks in the movie that didn’t happen in the book, and the same for the other way around. In the movie, the first attack with multiple birds was at Mitch’s sister’s birthday party, which didn’t exist in the book. While in the movie, the first attack was in Nat’s childrens bedroom. Also, in the book, Nat was attacked for an entire night, and he was by himself. That also didn’t happen in the book. In the movie, Mitch’s ex girlfriend was murdered by the birds, and in the book, Nat’s ex was never…

The last difference that I'm going to talk about is the themes, or main points, of the book versus the movie. The book was mainly about the hardships that people go through and about the fixing gaps between the rich and the poor. The book expressed the characters emotions and feelings, and the tone is melodramatic and a bit sad. In the movie, however, I don't even…

One thing in particular that the book does much better is making use of complex metaphors and themes, such as: the river for life, and oneness with nature, that string themselves together as you turn each page of the book, while in the movie the metaphors and symbolism are represented in a much different way through picture. In the book, both themes regarding the river are very vivid and clear, as they use strong imagery of nature to draw pictures in the minds of the readers. In the movie both themes are represented and referred to much less because of the lack of narration.…

Another theme is about how desire can cause people to hurt or be cruel to the people they are jealous of. The children got wanted to see the sun, but when the sun did not come out they thought Margot lied and put they put her in a closet. Most of the characters are the same in both stories. In both the movie and the book, you still have characters like Hannah, Rivka, Shmuel, Fayge, Esther, a baby, lots of kids and adults, and the Natzi army people. So as you can see, there are lots of similar characters in the book and the movie. As well as the characters, the plots are the same in some parts of the two genres. For example, there is a scene in the movie that shows four people trying to escape the camps. Similarly, in the book, there are four people trying to escape. Also, the people at the camps do work of some sort. In the movie, they are digging holes in the dirt. In the book, they are working in the kitchens. Therefore, the fact that they are working is the same. Those were ways to show how the plot can be alike. Another way the two stories are the same is the theme of the movie and the book. The theme is “Remember, never forget.” In the book, Hannah tells Rivka to remember and to not forget. Likewise, in the movie Rivka’s mom say’s, “We need to remember, do not forget.” That’s the way that theme is the same in both of the…
