To a Christians abortion is infanticide, written in the law of the Romans in Jesus’ times. But there is nothing in the bible to support against abortions beside that it has been practiced throughout recorded human history. However, there are quotes from the bible that support going against abortion.
“I will say to God…’your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now destroy me? Remember that you moulded me like clay. Will you turn me to dust again?” (NIV, Job 10:2/8-9).
“Now the word of the Lord came out saying ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet of nations” (NAS, Jeremiah 1:4-5).
From this I gather that it is a gift to be alive that who are we to create something and destroy it again, God planned for us to be made so we shouldn’t say no to his wording. With this the ‘Sanctity of Life’ connects very well this. Sanctity of Life means that life itself is ultimately precious and must not, under any circumstances, be extinguished.
But again in the bible it surprisingly agrees with abortion for example” And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage yet there is no further injury, he shall be fined as the woman’s husband may demand him; and he shall appoint as a penalty like an eye for eye, a tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,” (NAS, Exodus 21:22-24).
Even though Christians disagree with the thought there are two groups of Christians that have different views on abortion.
Pro-life- They believe life begins with instant contraception, to them abortion is murder as it is in the 10 commandments, the strongly support this. Although they believe on contraception they don’t to agree with medical science, the bible, religious and legal traditions.
And then there is another group that have totally the opposite view
Pro-Choice- They believe that an abortion doesn’t differ fundamentally from other forms of birth
