The tongue twister “She Sells Sea Shells” is one of the best known of its genre. Implied by its title, the tongue twister simply concerns a woman that scours the beach and sells the shells that she finds. Mary Anning was a young woman born to a working class family that lived in Lyme Regis, a small seaside town in England. She grew up helping her father comb the beaches for fossils they would sell to tourists. Even after her father died, Mary kept up the fossil collecting practice in order to sustain her mother and brother. But what started out as a means of survival for the Annings turned out to impact the world of paleontology in the early 19th century, though Mary was rarely credited for her finds. The credit typically went to her male colleagues…

Michael was born into a bad situation to begin with; his mother was a crack addict. The neighborhood was known as a “broken windows” neighborhood, crime rate high and a lack of police presence. No one ever gave Michael a chance or believed in him until he met the Tuohy family, who changed his life. The plan that I have thought of for Michael is for him to continue living with the Tuohy family, but get in touch with his siblings. He needs to know his biological family. Sorting and organizing his life events in different factors, the majority of them are psychological factors, which should result with him seeing a counselor to relieve some of his life’s…

The conch shell found in the early chapters represents order and a form of democracy amongst the boys, until things slowly start to unravel. This symbol was the only thing keeping the boys from transitioning from citizenship to savagery. When Jack openly questions Ralph’s authority, Ralph uses the conch as a safeguard and Jack condemns it, stating that the “conch doesn’t count on this side of the island,” (Golding 50). and that if Ralph blew it no one would hear. On top of Simon’s horrid death, the rebellion against the conch shows the transition of when they truly become savages. No one cares about the order or the sound of the conch; they are completely wild.…

In Lord of the Flies, several symbols are used to illustrate important ideas that are crucial to the plot and meaning of the book. One of these symbols is the conch: this rare shell is not only a precious and expensive in the world of merchandise; it also holds a dark and mysterious power over a group of English boys, lost on an island with no adults, clues, or means of escape. The boys set up a civilization and try to live in the society they have set up. This system works for a while, aided by the power of the conch. However, as the story advances, the civilized way of life that the boys have set up starts falling apart, and savagery starts luring certain boys outside of the safe and rational walls of civilization. William Golding intertwines the fast-paced, enticing story of the boys’ plight on the island and the descent into savagery with the powerful and deeply meaningful symbolism of the conch.…

The scene I have chosen is the crazy house scene, one of the final scenes in the film. Michael awakes from his drugged stupor and realizes he is in a crazy house.…

There are many points in the story from which we find out that Michael does not love Frances. Firstly, Michael disrespects Frances by looking at other girls. There are many problems need to be solved in the memoir such as poverty, homelessness, neglect, sexual abuse, hunger, discrimination, violence, unemployment, division within family and alcohol abuse. But according to me division with the family first needed to be solved it is also stated in the novel, “this family is falling apart,' he said. ‘It sure is,' I told him” (Walls 230) as if the family is united they can go through any circumstances. A united family has trust, hope, love, belief that everything in going to be fine and unselfishness which the family lacked in many situations for example when the family was hungry and the mom has a whole chocolate bar but she doesn’t want to share it with the whole family. She said, “I'm a sugar addict, just like your father is an alcoholic.' She told us we should forgive her the same way we always forgave Dad for his drinking” (Walls 174). After getting settled in New York they didn’t stay together rather thought to move on in their life.…
