9th Grade Observation Report
As a student here at Savanna I believe I gave my best effort to get the grades I have on my transcript. I believe I did achieve a lot notwithstanding all the bumps in the road, my total GPA was a 2.1. During my 9th grade year I was determined to prove how intelligent and hardworking I am, so I took honors biology, and got a C. I was proud considering this was an honors class. Despite being in band and spending several hours practicing after school until the sun was going down, I managed to not fail any of my classes. However, I was disappointed that I received my first D in PE, I believe I could’ve done better.

I went to St. Michael School from Kindergarten through Eighth grade, so when it came time to leave for high school, I was not excited for the change. St. Michael was especially small in regards to student population. We had just under three hundred students split between all nine grades. That left roughly twenty to thirty kids per class. I was extremely used too this small environment and not exactly looking forward to the terrors of high school towering over me nor the thought of being lost in the sea of students. Over the years I was extremely imbedded in my academics. I had straight A’s for my entire time at St. Michael. I received the academic achievement award at Eighth grade promotion for having the highest GPA in my class. Despite this, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to live up…

Observing this toddler has taught me many things. I was able to learn about the different forms of child development and what it looks like. One of the major forms of child development is physical. The child experiences major child development during the first two years of life. During this time the child experiences gross-motor development. The skills obtained from these developments are the ability to run, jump, catch etc. During the observation of the infant I was able to witness some of these developments. For example over the course of my observation I noticed the infant had significantly improved his ability to stand up and sit down on his own. He was struggling when the observation but seemingly got more comfortable doing it over and over again. The walking stared to become natural and more second nature however it was awkward and difficult when the infant just started. The infant also became more comfortable gripping and grasping objects. Another form of development observed was cognitive development. This development includes the ability to think rhetorically and the ability to communicate with others. The child made significant development in this field he was able to learn more words and express his thoughts in an understanding manner. The infant’s ability to play and interact with other children has increased. His memory has increased and is able to remember certain things over time his able to memorize more things and can recognize familiar faces. The final form of physical development is social-emotional development. This stage involves dealing with other children and being able to pay attention to adult figures. The infant is able to obey the adults and other persons in charge. They also become more comfortable at expressing their emotions. The child is also able to learn empathy and…

I have had the opportunity to go to two middle schools due to moving locations. This paper is going to be based on my experiences at Hermosa Middle School in Farmington, New Mexico. Since, this where I started caring more about my education and I can relate more to this placement. To begin with, Hermosa Middle School serves grade from 6th-8th. The demographic in this school is about 42% Caucasian, 31% Hispanic, 23% Native-American, 2% Asian, and 2% African-American. Notice, that there is a high population of Hispanics, I believe that this is why I started to be more involve at school. Prior to moving to Farmington, New Mexico; I lived and attended a junior high school in Huntington, Utah where 5% were Hispanic. I can honestly state, “That Hermosa Middle School is a contemporary developmentally responsive middle schools”. I quote this because I can point out the differences between what both schools had offered me as a student.…

Back in 2012 I was accepted into Early college academy at south-ridge (ECAS). This school is particularly special because it allows high school students to take dual credit courses in a community college. Obtaining high grades in my classes while also being required to do my best was something I always had trouble with. I was the the type of person who didn't mind a 70 when it came to report cards, until I found out colleges didn't like students with low grades or at least with low performance like me. My freshman year I made the decision to improve my grades and become a better student.…

There are several goals I have set for myself in college; I aspire to make the dean's-list in all the years I attend college, I anticipate participating in a minimum of two organizations which can get me more absorbed in the community, and finally, I want to become involved with the student body, and attend as many school sponsored events as I can. In my junior year, when I heard I made the honor roll at my high school, I was overcome with a feeling of fulfillment. This was the first time I had made the honor roll and with this achievement was a feeling of pride for the work I put in, and for the way the work reflected in my grades. But, I stayed hungry and kept working to maintain this honor, and I finished on the honor role for the entirety…

In 6th grade, I joined the honors program at my middle school; from then on forward, I made sure than my work was of high enough quality so that the following year I would be placed in honors courses. These courses are what I believe prepared me for my success in high school. I got a taste of what it was like to be in an environment where every pupil was hungry for an education and for knowledge, and I grew to want to learn as much as my classmates. I entered high school with courses that upperclassmen had that challenged me more than anything else had before. It was during my freshman year of high school that I realized that I couldn’t…
