Reason I Chose The Twin Towers
The 9/11 crash affected the United States by making them realize they didn't have very much protection against terrorists. In 2001, America was attacked by Al Queda. Four planes were hijacked to hit the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the white house. Around 8:48, an American Airlines Flight 11 crashed straight into the North tower. About fifteen minutes later, the South tower was hit by a United Airlines Flight 125 plane. In both of these planes there were ten hijackers and one hundred twenty nine citizens. In one hundred two minutes, the people of America were changed forever. It took twelve seconds for each tower to collapse. There were also two other planes that were taken over; one crashed into the Pentagon killing one hundred twenty five people. Fifty five of them being military personel and the fourth plane was heading to the white house, but the passengers on the plane fought back and the terrorist rolled the plane and crash it into a field. Thousands of men and woman died that fateful day, many of them just doing their jobs. There were one hundred fourty three firefighters and paramedics killed. Sixty officers were killed as well. Almost three thousand people died and over twenty one thousand pieces of bodies were found. Sometimes two hundred or more pieces went to one person. About 4,745 pieces were actually identified. Only 293 bodies were found intact, but only twelve were identifiable. Over half of the people who died were not identified. Even six weeks after the towers fell only 425 people had been identified. A year after, about one fourth of the bodies were identified. The aftermath of 9/11 was horrific. Debris was found everywhere; papers, peices of buildings, and much more was all over New York. Over 1 million pieces of rubble were picked up. It took eight months to clean everything up, but it was nowhere near back to normal. In
